TECHNICAL DRAWING

Rapid technological developments and increased consumer demands have meant an increased role for graphics in contemporary society. Graphics has become important for communication and the process of thinking and is therefore an essential part of a student's education.

Technical Drawing is a specially skilled area of graphics.

People involved in management and law, as well as scientists, doctors, engineers, trades people (motor mechanics, carpenters, plumbers, etc.) and many others, would have a substantial use for this course of study.   Also anyone who has been involved in house construction, renovation or alterations, would be aware of the advantages of studying a basic course in Technical Drawing.

The course gives emphasis both to understanding the concepts and language of drawing, as well as the provision of opportunity to acquire the basic technical knowledge, skills and techniques necessary for the preparation of industrial drawings, both manually and using computer aided techniques.

The study of Technical Drawing is a decided advantage for students commencing Engineering Studies in Year 11 or Design and Technology.

Special Drawing equipment is necessary for this course and the approximate cost would be $35 depending on the quality and where the equipment is purchased.   Suitable equipment may be purchased at the school.

This drawing equipment is the student's personal property to be used in subsequent years.
