From atoms to alloys, sparks and space to virtual reality, Science helps us answer the "how", "when", "where" questions we have about ourselves and the things around us. The course in Years 9 and 10 involves the study of the earth's crust, chemical reactions, machines, light and energy, cells and microbes, respiration and growth, life forms, genetics and reproduction, motion, industrial chemistry, communication, electronics, formation of the earth, control of our body and population growth. During the course students are regularly assessed in broad areas such as:
* knowledge of concepts & principles; * observation & manipulation principles; * expression & communication; * social interaction skills; * critical thinking & process skills. Through the study and practice of Science, with its many fascinating and sometimes magical activities, students are given the opportunity to gain vital knowledge, apply responsible attitudes and values, and develop the many processes and skills required to live in a world undergoing rapid and dramatic change.
