MUSIC Stage 4- Year 7 & 8 Students will be provided with the opportunity to develop skills in the areas of performance, composition, aural and musicology through a variety of activities. At Ryde Secondary College, the Music program has been developed to promote the following:
1. To develop in students the ability to perform as a means of: • improving self expression • communicating • expanding musical skills • improving ensemble techniques • interpreting musical symbols.
2. To develop the ability to create through: • improvising • composing • arranging.
3 To develop aural awareness through a wide range of musical experiences.
4. To develop through listening, analysing and discussing an understanding of: • music as an art form • music in social, cultural and historical contexts • musical literacy.
5. To develop a set of values about music.
