GEOGRAPHY Stage 5 - Year 9 & 10 The new Geography syllabus for Years 9 & 10 involves the investigation of Australia's identity, its environments and its links with the rest of the world.
The Year 9 course covers: * Australia's location within its region and the world; * Australia's geographical dimensions; * What makes Australia unique; * Australia's communities and how they are changing and; * Australia's physical environment and how it affects people.
The Year 10 course covers: * Contemporary geographical issues affecting Australian environments; * Case studies and fieldwork relating to these issues; * Australia's regional and global context and; * Australia's future and how to make it better.
Throughout the two-year Geography course: * There is a further development of the practical skills of map reading and drawing, as well as the interpretation of various forms of information. * Fieldwork is undertaken as the opportunity arises, at local, metropolitan and more distant locations thus providing first-hand experience and practice in geographical skills.
